Marriott to open 4,000-room resort in Las Vegas
Las Vegas' Fontainebleau casino project, which stalled in 2009, is getting another chance.
Marriott International, the largest hotel company in the world, plans to turn it into a 4,000-room resort and casino called The Drew Las Vegas.
It will be a combination of Marriott’s EDITION brand and The Strip’s first JW Marriott. It is set to open in late 2020.
The tower has served as a reminder of how the recession impacted the Las Vegas Strip. The global development firm Witkoff bought the more than 60-story building five months ago.
“With Marriott International, we have the opportunity to leverage the world’s most powerful group and convention pipeline as well as an unmatched loyalty program to ensure we unlock the unparalleled value of this asset,” said Steven Witkoff. Chief Executive Officer of Witkoff, in a written statement.
